Bar Cart Styling: Happy New Year!

I can't believe 2016 is just about over...where did this year go? I have so much to be thankful for in this past year, it really was a blessed year! I am looking forward to ringing in the New Year and wish for another wonderful year ahead, excited to see what 2017 has in store!

We don't tend to go overboard on New Year's, to be honest it never really has ranked very high on my holiday list. Maybe I just have a hard time with good-byes, haha. I have never gotten all dolled up and tend to keep it casual with friends. Since having kiddos this has become the norm!  This year is no different, it will be a casual evening at home with a couple friends and all the kiddos running around like crazy.

Decorations are even more simple...I opted for a bar cart with a few sweets, and drinks. Doesn't have to be elaborate to be beautiful!

I used greenery I had from my yard, a large basket of pine cones (I found in the yard too), a few cake plates and items I had in my home. Grab your favorite drink mixers and you are set!

No need for fancy glasses around here, simple mason jars or copper mugs are perfect for a night in.

Everyone needs a little sweet in their life, and tonight is no exception! Lets be honest...aren't we all making the traditional resolution of eating better, tomorrow? I know I need to!

Stop by your local bakery and pick up some treats. It makes your life easier and you will have dessert to share with your guests. These delicious cupcakes are from the Jenny Cookies Bake Shop, I recommend making a stop if you are local to the Pacific NW!

My favorite is always the traditional chocolate and vanilla...can't go wrong with a classic!

Don't forget the pop-its for the little's, easy way to keep them occupied for awhile and they are fun! Does your family set off fireworks for the New Year? Always fun to see the night sky light up!

Style with Target: Christmas Tablescape on a Budget!

I love to decorate for any holiday, especially Christmas! I love the rustic elements of the season and always try to use them in my decor. I decided to do something different for my Christmas table this year, usually it's filled with glittered fruits, rustic and nature inspired pieces. This year I opted for a little more glam and color!

AK Party Studio Target Christmas Tablescape on a Budget
I went to my favorite store, Target and was lost in the sea of new decorations and holiday sets they have this year. Is it me or is Target just killing it this year with their design pieces? Not easy for my pocketbook, that is for sure!

I decided while I was at Target I thought it would be fun to show how anyone can style a fun, beautiful tablescape all for under $100.

I searched the dollar section first, because I can't get out of Target without hitting that spot! You can always find such amazing little goodies. I found these tea towels that I decided to use as napkins.

For the silverware, I could have spent $20 per set of the gold pieces (which don't get me wrong, are gorgeous), but that didn't fit within my budget. I considered using some from my silver set, until I stumbled upon one of Targets glorious end caps and saw a box of gold plastic ware. They are sturdy, look great and fit within my budget!

For each place setting I found beautiful gold and cream placemats, gold chargers, red dinner plates and white salad plates. I love how they all looked together. My favorite is the edging of the white plates, so pretty, yet simple.

I used wine glasses that I had on hand and bought these cute cocktail glasses with gold etching. They fit the table perfectly!

Each place setting received a favor, a smaller holiday Cracker on each plate. These are one of my favorite traditions of Christmas dinner with my family.

For the centerpiece I used a rustic tree I had from years ago (Target) and added two bright mint green bottle brush trees. The mini red reindeer tealight holders were a cute addition, I loved how this setup turned out.

For all under $100 I was able to create a styled and beautiful look for our Christmas table. Whatever your budget is, my advice is to find key pieces that will mix well with what you already have. It is an easy way to freshen up your decor without breaking the bank.

Hopefully this provided you with some inspiration for your holiday table decorating. The best part of any table are the loved ones that you get to gather around it with. I wish you all a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!

Holiday Warm-up with Cocoa, Cookies and Buddy the Elf!

I love celebrating the holidays, and what better way than with the kiddos hosting a Holiday Warm-Up! Invite a few kids over to watch a festive movie thats kid appropriate, we chose Elf, I think most kids would love it! Serve warm cocoa with all the fixings, Christmas cookies and a few light snacks. Gather some pillows and blankets, spread all over the floor and let the kids get cozy while they watch the movie.

To let everyone know about the details, I chose to send an invite by Minted. They have the cutest e-vites and they are free right now! Pick your favorite invite, they allow you to personalize it and then send away! I love anything buffalo check right now, so this invite was perfect!

I wanted this to be casual, so I made sure guests knew to come in their pjs, including the mommas! It was so much fun to relax and have a fun night in during this busy holiday season. My kids couldn't resist wearing their cute Christmas pjs.

Holiday Warm Up

Decorations were festive, yet simple, my color palette was a mix of reds, green, white and black. I pulled items from around the house to create a fun table for the sweets.

For snacks and drinks I kept it pretty simple, snack mix for the kids during the movie, a few sweet goodies and a hot cocoa bar. All the guests loved the hot cocoa bar! I am not much of a coffee girl, so this was right up my alley!

I found the cutest disposable cups with lids at Hobby Lobby. Perfect for sipping on cocoa while watching the movie.

This darling chalkboard menu sign was perfect for the hot cocoa bar, it is a free printable I found at Twelve O Eight blog.

A cute banner and a few bottle brush trees were all that was needed for the cocoa bar. I found this checkered banner by Eylander Sign Co. and had to have it!

The kids had fun adding their own toppings to their cocoa, with candy canes, sprinkles, marshmallows and lots of whipped cream!

One of my favorite pieces for this setup, was this gorgeous tassel banner that fit the backdrop perfectly!

If I would have been thinking clearly, I would have remembered that sugaring kids up and then expecting them to sit and watch a movie is highly unlikely. Lets just say that I think everyone enjoyed the sweets table, especially the kids!

Holiday Warm Up Hot Cocoa BarI found this darling print on Pinterest with no information about it. I loved it and knew it would make a perfect addition. After much research I finally found it to be a Lily & Val print, they are so talented! Check out their site, but forewarning you will get lost for hours! Get your chalkboard print here for your Hot Cocoa Bar.

I baked some sugar cookies the morning of the party and let my kids decorate. They loved getting involved and showing off their masterpieces to their friends. As you can see my daughter loves her sprinkles!

Jenny Cookies Bake Shop!!!

The Jenny Cookies Bake Shop is now open for business, in Lake Stevens, WA. I had the pleasure of being an honorary employee for opening day, the shop was packed and all hands were on deck! We worked all day, exhausted at the end, feet tired and a long drive home for me, but I would do it again in a heartbeat. It was a great day, lots of laughs, super fun, plenty of smiling faces and sweets galore!

We were so busy I wasn't able to capture many photos, but I certainly packed up a few sweets to enjoy over the weekend!

Red velvet, Vanilla with Buttercream, Chocolate Salted Caramel and Oreo Cakepop! Some of my favorite goodies from the bakery! I would have captured the Gingerbread Cupcake, but that was in my belly on the way home! Don't judge, it was a long drive.

This mug was too cute to pass up! I love this saying, even more when I am sipping my hot cocoa in the morning. I am pretty sure it gives me the permission to eat these cupcakes for breakfast, right? After all it is just a muffin that believed!

If you ever find yourself near Everett, WA, take a short trip east to Lake Stevens and visit this darling bakery. I promise you will not be disappointed.

Enjoy the day!
