Pinterest Anyone???

Lately I have heard a lot of buzz about Pinterest, an amazing website that allows you to "pin" images online that you want to save. Basically it is an account that keeps multiple inspiration boards in one place! Loving this idea. I signed up for an account a few weeks ago and have slowly been adding items to my individual boards. I have to say I really do love it. I have already started my vision board for Katelyn's birthday as well as items for the home, which I call "Eye Candy". If you haven't checked it out yet I suggest you do, you will be hooked! Just think of all the beauties you could pin, absolute perfection.

On another note it seems things have just been crazy around here, between work, keeping up with the home and baby K I haven't had a whole lot of time for me or my crafts. I have a few projects that I want to get started on involving fabric, I hope to share those sometime soon. I have never really worked with fabrics, but after one trip to Joann's last week I fell in love with so many beautiful designs that now I keep trying to figure out what else I can make. First problem; I don't own a sewing machine, second problem; I don't know how to sew. Minor detail, right? I will keep you all posted with how these projects turn out, could be interesting!

All I could say was... eeew

The wonderful world of food has brought on a whole new kind of dirty diapers! After dinner I was finishing cleaning up the kitchen when out of no where Katelyn just starting crying, pretty heavily. I just figured she had enough of that high chair and it was time for some one on one attention time. Well as momma is walking around with her (on my hip) I look down and see a strange hue, yes that hue was poo! That would explain the upset baby, hello! I think I would be pretty upset too if I have poo all the way up to my chest. I shrieked and took her straight to the bath, there were no amount of wipes that could handle that task. I realize this is more detail than y'all probably wanted to know, but I had been waiting for these horror diaper stories to finally show up in our home, and it definitely made a grand entrance!
With baby clean and the laundry going I just thought how funny it is that having a kid can totally change you, as much as it was smelly and messy it just really didn't bother me. I think only a parent can say that and truly mean it! ha ha.
To the veteran mom's who have already experienced this, I now know what you speak of. To the soon to be mommas and new mommas, this is just another thing to look forward to. This actually reminded me of a story that Jenny McCarthy talked about in her book Baby Laughs. If you haven't read the book I definitely recommend it, there are a lot of laugh out loud moments.

With baby peacefully sleeping I think I am off to bed, good night all and have a great Wednesday morning!

Sweet Peas - Baby Food Round 2

My second attempt at making Katelyn's baby food went well, thankfully! This time I thought we would try peas. I had a frozen bag so I steamed about 1 cup of peas and tossed into the food processor with a few tablespoons of water. I blended the peas as smooth as possible, without being too watery. The second attempt was done, with success!

Katelyn tried her peas for the first time and really loved them, I was pleasantly surprised. However, I did realize that the world of neutral colored spit up has passed us. I am so proud to watch our baby girl grow, we will stick with peas this week and introduce sweet potatoes next week. My guess is that she will LOVE them, being sweet and all.

So far so good on the food, we will see what each day brings.

Tonight my momma, sister, Katelyn and I will be enjoying a girls movie night, the feature presentation is "Houseboat" starring Cary Grant and Sophia Loren, such a cute movie. Dinner will be served as well as yummy cupcakes for dessert. Should be lovely.

Weekend Round-up

This weekend was so beautiful I can hardly believe it! Friday night my husband, Steve, and I had such a wonderful date night. We went to Teatro Zinzanni and the show was, as always, amazing! We had a fabulous 5-course dinner, starting off with an antipasto plate, asparagus soup (I was hesitant, but it was so delicious), caesar salad and the main course was beef tenderloin, scalloped sweet potatoes and snap peas. Dessert was vanilla panna cotta, although very full we managed to make some room, and I am glad we did. I have never had panna cotta before but the flavor reminded me of a really creamy, thick ice cream. We laughed the night away and made some wonderful memories.
The rest of our weekend was spent doing stuff in our yard and attending two birthday parties. All in all it was a great weekend and I am already looking forward to the next one, surprise, surprise!

I hope you all were able to enjoy this weekend and the bright thing in the sky that I think they call Sun, I know we don't get to see it very often but we welcome it back any day!

Now since we don't have one close to home, I plan to stop by next time I am in the Portland area. I am looking forward to being able to post about my experience and hopefully find some great deals.

I hope everyone gets out and enjoys this beautiful weekend we are going to have, bring on the SUNSHINE!!

Tonight my husband and I are off to Seattle for our date night.

29 Years and Counting...

Today marks my 29th birthday! I can hardly believe when I look at that number how fast time has flown by. If you know me I LOVE my birthday, I look at it as a day to celebrate me and all of my accomplishments for the year. I spoil myself and look forward to always doing something special with my family. It doesn't hurt that the day is also calorie free, so bring on those cupcakes!

I am a lucky girl, the day has already started off pretty darn good. I woke up this morning to a little surprise from my husband, a note that he left a present for me on the front porch. When I opened the door I saw a beautiful hanging basket of flowers. Absolutely gorgeous and now I have a little eye candy for the front porch this summer. The surprise didn't stop there however, Friday night we are having a date night. Yes he surprised me with two tickets to Teatro Zinzanni! I am so excited, a chance to spend some time with the love of my life and to get dressed up. If ya'll haven't heard of Teatro, you should check it out. According to their website, it is a a three-hour whirlwind of cirque, comedy and cabaret all served up with a five-course feast! I will be sure to post pictures and thoughts about the show. This is my 4th time going but each show has been different.

And since those calories are free remember, for breakfast I had a hot cocoa, cranberry/orange scone and bacon! My favorites!

I hope you all enjoy your Wednesday, I know I will!

Psst ~ is it totally corny if I say "Happy Birthday to me!" ~ oops already did!
